Enthusiastic Opening for Cafe Features Variety Menu, New JUPITER — It isn’t often that one who has no restaurant experience opens a cafe and discovers immediate success. Yet, that’s what Ben and Cara Hitt, owner of North River Grill, 1544 Cypress Drive, did. However, we’re told that Cara’s family had worked in the food business off and on for years. The evolution of the grill is somewhat astounding in that Hitt brought in his brothers to help work the business, none of which had industry experience before, either. But, all souls involved ground in determined to produce some of the best foods around, and by some quirk of fate they managed to come up with a great menu and some really fabulous dishes. “We’re really pleased with the initial reception received and are excited that people like what we bring to them from the kitchen,” Hitt said. “The guys are really trying hard to prepare quality foods and it just seems they’ve got a sixth sense about what will work and what won’t.” The restaurant opened September 16 and the clientele has been growing daily. People are even coming from across town to see what the fuss is all about. Hitt delivers, too, which has proved to be a sound decision. The concept in foods North River Grill has adopted is to produce wholesome, feel good foods. The menu ranges from breakfast and lunch choices, including some knock-out standard items and some unusual items. Now, the grill has expanded hours to include a light evening menu until 8pm, and even more interesting dishes, including some Mexican choices - even nachos, that have become fast favorites. In reality, the Quesadillas are very popular. The menu here is divided into subs (hot and specialty), sandwiches, soups, salads and an array of items from the grill - burgers, chops, etc. Take home dinners are also available and include such items as meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy and veggies. North River Grill uses only fresh Kaiser roles, all meats are fresh as are other ingredients. The fryer oil is changed each week, so that everything coming out of the kitchen is prepared for taste, and there is no grease. Ben put his brother, Dan, in charge of kitchen operations. Dan has come up with what the brothers feel is “the best burger in town and wings that are right at the top,” yet most everything they offer is good. A breakfast item, already popular, is the Heart Attack Burrito. Burrito, you say? Just wait until you try it. The dish is absolutely delicious. Quickly, the favorite lunch items have become the Regular Cheeseburger, Ron’s Sub and the 5 Fat Guys Sub. But, there is much more to delight over here. Beer and wine have been added, too, which is going over well after business hours. “The first night we were open we served more than 100 orders, including beer and wine,” Ben noted. Since expanding hours, North River Grill has become “Home of the Buy Back.” That means, for every three beers, the customer gets one free. The evening hours are Monday-Friday until 8pm and a totally different menu is available. Regardless of the time of day, prices are very reasonable here. North River Grill does catering to schools and private parties. They deliver Tequesta, east of the Tequesta Drive bridge, and Jupiter to Military Trail. Credit cards are accepted here and service is excellent - certainly with a friendly smile and personal greeting. “We’ve established a great foundation to build on in a short time,” Ben explained, “with very good evening patronage, and for that, we’re grateful. A warm welcome to all is extended. Come in, get acquainted and give our food a try. We think you’ll like it.” For more information on this restaurant, call North River Grill at (561) 745-0006.
