Best Wishes for a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year….2010! Wow, almost a full decade of the new millennium has been experienced. Approaching the New Year I find myself transitioning by ringing in the new with a spirit of hope and willingness to make this year the best one yet! Traditionally, the New Year has been considered the perfect time to set new goals and seek change in the areas of life which may need some adjustment or new order. The reality is this can be accomplished with each new moment! However, for the sake of celebrating the New Year we can abide by the tradition of creating our New Year Resolution!

The economic uncertainly of the past year challenged the manner by which we live and work and yet, out of the difficulty good things happened. With gratitude, I have experienced a community which is willing to work together, assist one another and generally seek solutions rather than focus on complaint. This spirit of American ingenuity lives with the presence of wit, wisdom, and willingness to face these difficult times and find solutions. The choice is our own to experience situations with great challenge or with a willingness of acceptance and letting go.

The hustle and bustle of the holiday season now behind, and taking a moment to reflect on the goals and resolutions set the prior year, one will find some which were achieved while others fell away with no particular attention or concern. Some were serious valuable commitments while others may have been just a whim---the outcome may be a continuum of the same, a reaffirmation of promises and goals not yet attained, or an ideal of a fresh start, a new beginning. It is ours to consider, decide, and create.

A great start in creating anything is to eliminate clutter; clutter of the mind and of our surroundings. First, by taking notice and becoming aware of our surroundings through our senses, we are able to discover our level of comfort with an object or situation and how we are responding in our environment. It is not necessary to create a story or identity about these responses, rather just take notice of them without any judgment. By minimizing the energy we place on that which we do not want to create, we are in a better framework to achieve our true ideals. Living in the framework of our true ideal and goal is what provides access to attaining them. In other words, how we think is often what we create.

Becoming aware, letting go of fear, and taking responsibility for our actions is a very positive step forward in creating and accepting change. The pressures may feel daunting, the losses great, and the disappointments beyond our acceptance, however, this may be the time in which the problems become the opportunity. Rather than focus on the problem, seek the resolve, the desired outcome, “the gift”. There are always solutions if we are willing to consider and accept them.

Creativity in any fashion operates from an ideal. As with designing home interiors, the true ideal is to create home environments which are aesthetically appealing, functional, and fitting to the personal lifestyle of the client. Accomplished by noticing and becoming aware of the clients personal likes and dislikes and focusing on the client’s ideals, the design professional incorporates their sensory perceptions with color, texture, proportion, and other design elements to create a desirable home interior setting. They do not need to clutter the process with unnecessary options, ideas, or opinions. Simply, they focus on the ideal of creating a well-designed home interior which meets the ideal of their client.

What we believe and think about any situation, goal, or ideal vastly determines the outcome. Let’s each create a reality which allows us to live our dream. Happy New Year! Your visit is welcomed at our studio/workroom at 1615 Cypress Drive in Jupiter. www.villageinteriorsflorida.com
